Nursing support is often considered to be very important aspect of home healthcare services. In present day and age when it is not possible to stay with your loved ones all the time during sickness, nursing services become a crucial support system. Nurses help share the burden of caring for the patient at home. But as a home healthcare service provider, we have noticed a gap existing between the expectations from nurses and what they deliver.
When hiring a home nurse, the family often expects the nurse to manage the basic care taking tasks like feeding the patient, personal hygiene, attending to patient’s personal needs, bed sores management, etc. However, if the patient is battling complex illness like cancer, multiple sclerosis, stroke, etc. having
basic nursing services may not suffice. In such situations, what is really needed is nurses who are qualified to go beyond regular caregiving tasks and perform clinical procedures.
This gap often impacts the patients and their outcomes.
We recognize these challenges and hence provide nursing services as part of a larger care program to support patients at home. Our larger care program includes a Care Doctor assigned to the patient, digital care platform, and care navigation and coordination support.
On nursing services front, we provide two types of nursing support:
Our basic nurses assist in daily activities, hygiene, and mobility. They monitor the patient and record their vitals and health complaints for the Care Doctor to review. The nurses further help with wound management, medication administering, bladder wash, oral suctioning, etc.
Basic nurses also help with managing catheter, Ryles Tube, IV & Peg tube.
This is where we provide nurses that are qualified to perform certain clinical procedures.
In addition to basic nursing care, our specialty nurses are qualified for stoma care, central/PICC line management, baby care, etc. If need be, our specialty nurses can manage tracheostomy tube and DVT. Our specialty nurses can further support patients during post coronary artery bypass graft, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, stroke, and more.
As a home healthcare service provider, we try to bring quality medical support to the patients where they are the most comfortable – their home. There are times when a patient needs to visit a hospital for certain complications or symptoms. But many hospital visits and readmissions can be avoided by
providing timely interventions at home. This is where our specialty nurses make a lot of difference.
Our nurses provide nursing interventions to patients at home under the supervision of our doctors and the primary treating specialist. These interventions save time, offer immediate relief, and mitigate risks before they aggravate into more complex problems.
A cohort study has revealed that our skilled nursing interventions managed up to 96% of clinical episodes at home and reduced avoidable hospital readmissions for patients.
What differentiates our nursing support in the market is the guidance and care navigation we provide to patients and their families. We understand the patient’s condition, their treatment, and then recommend what kind of nursing support should they opt for.
We help the family understand how the chronical illness may progress, how to prepare for it in advance, and what kind of support the patient would need. This guidance helps minimize the gap in nursing which in turn impacts the patient.
