Breast cancer as an illness is mostly associated with women. However, it can affect men also. Although the relative percentage of incidence is low, a study published in JAMA Oncology shows that the mortality rate in men breast cancer is 19% higher than in women.
Pain is one of the most common symptoms experienced by cancer patients. It can be a dull throbbing, a sharp shooting stab, or even a burning sensation. If left untreated this pain can affect the patient’s quality of life. It can be physically and emotionally exhausting. It can also lead to depression, anxiety, and stress which adversely affect the patient’s condition.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has spared none. But it has been more brutal to people who are in an immunocompromised state. For example, cancer patients have weakened immune system. This makes them all the more susceptible to COVID-19 infection, especially when they visit hospital for follow-up or clinical procedures.
